Green tea is "true" tea that has undergone little oxidation during processing. Green tea is popular in far East, and recently has become more popular in the West, which traditionally drank black tea (a "true" tea made from leaves more heavily oxidized than the white, green, and oolong varieties).
A number of health claims have been made for green tea, claiming that it contains antioxidant properties that can help prevent cancer. Evidence also suggests that it can increase endurance in exercise by improving fat metabolism.
